Advanced ferrite disk heads oral history panel

Starting with a review of the types of magnetic recording heads used in IBM’s early disk drives, the transition throughout the disk drive industry to ferrite core heads, and the later movement to thin film heads. Panel members reviewed their experience at IBM and independent head and drive manufacturers, through the continuous and difficult evolution in magnetic recording head development.
