International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) 3380 disk drive oral history panel
The IBM 3380, announced in June, 1980, and eventually shipped in October, 1981, for mainframe applications, encountered many difficult development problems, but eventually became one of IBM's all-time highest cash producers. Panel members played a key role in solving difficult problems with recording heads, disks, motors, etc., and in preparing the drive models with increased capacity which were introduced through the 1980s.
