The Revolution That Made Computing Personal, lecture by M. Mitchell Waldrop

From abstract: "VMitch Waldrop brings us the fascinating story of JCR Licklider and \The Revolution that Made Computing Personal.\ Licklider may well have been one of the most influential -- and least known -- people in the history of computer science. As a division director in the Pentagon's Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) in the early 1960s, Licklider put in place the funding priorities which led to the Internet and the inventions of the \mouse,\ \windows,\ and \hypertext.\ \The Dream Machine\ will be available for sale at the lecture and on-line at the Museum's store prior to the event. Every purchase helps to support the preservation of computing history."
