Xerox Alto source code

Collection of source code from the Xerox Alto. From the accompanying description by Palo Alto Research Center (PARC): "A comprehensive collection of the firmware, systems, and applications that were developed by PARC and Xerox systems groups over the lifetime of this research personal computer, and includes source code, and quite often particular instances of corresponding object or run-image code. This software has been obtained from operational disk packs and backup file repositories created from approximately the years 1972 to 1985." Includes firmware, emulators for both Data Genera Nova minicomputer and an early instance of the Mesa virtual machine, Alto assembly code, operating system components written in the BCPL language, assemblers, compilers, debugging tools, operating system (OS) components written in Mesa, prototype firmware, OS, and development environments in support of the LISP programming language, and the Alto office suite (including text editors, illustrators, e-mail, games, design tools, remote terminal applications, remote printing applications, network routers, bootup, and special-purpose applications such as music composition tools).
