Description

This video was shot by request of Xerox's Chairman of the Board and was meant to demonstrate Diablo Systems' team and capability in making daisy wheels. It shows the first commercial use of a custom made CAD/CAM system for design, layout and production of daisy wheels. The equipment set and specialized staff formed a very special team in which a state-of-the-art computing system, using new machine control software, was combined with a mix of skills ranging from tool design, plastic engineers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, software engineers, graphic artists, process engineers, electronic, mechanical and photo techs, tool and die makers and impact printing experts.

Machining techniques, machine control, cutter technology, coolants, software controls, incredibly tight matching tolerances were all integrated together and solved as a system for daisy wheel production for the first time ever.
