TitleInternals of symmetrical multiprocessing in VAX/VMS V5.0, tape 1 of 2
DescriptionFrom the original program:
Over the past several years, Digital has been producing more high-speed VAX processor capable of running in multiprocessor configurations. These VAX processors have made dramatic progress in the area of multiprocessing capabilities since the initial VAX-11/782 multiprocessor system. The VMS SMP effort was developed to take advantage of these new multiprocessing features.
This talk focuses on the internals of the VMS Symmetrical Multiprocessing architecture and implementation. This talk will cover what new VAX features the VMS Symmetrical Operating Systems requires and the major changes necessary to make VMS run symmetrically. This talk will also hightlight some of the problems in converting VMS to by symmetric and how those problems were overcome.
