DECwindows defines the new design center for all Digital applications. The DECwindows architecture provides a uniform user-interface and application programming environment for the three Digital operating systems : VMS, Ultrix and MS/DOS. It is designed for workstations and personal computers with bitmap displays and pointing devices. This presentation will provide an overview of the DECwindows architecture and discuss the influences that lead to its creation.
