Biographical Notes

John Durbin Husher received a B.S.E.E. degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1958. He worked on transistors at Bell Avionics in 1958. In 1959 he moved to the Youngwood, Pennsylvania, Power Transistor manufacturing facility of Westinghouse where he developed an early form of integrated circuit called a Functional Electronic Block (FEB). In 1966 Husher joined Sprague Electric in Worcester, Massachusetts, as General Manager responsible for establishing an IC manufacturing capability. He joined Fairchild Semiconductor in 1968 as Director of the Digital Integrated Circuits operation and 1970 was responsible for establishing the Linear Integrated Circuits group as the Analog Division. In 1982 he joined analog IC manufacturer Micrel Semiconductor Inc. as Vice President and General Manager. He remained with the company for 20 years through the IPO and subsequent growth until he retired in 2002.
