Description

This unit is a drum controller made by Remington Rand UNIVAC. The front of the unit has an elaborate control panel including selector dials, an on/off switch, several plugs, many up/down switches and a large (18 across by 4 down) plugboard panel. Labels on the control panel include "PROBE READER" and "DISABLE WRITER." Circuit boards are populated mostly by vacuum tubes, but several include discrete transistors. Several circuit boards are stamped with dates from 1958. Several paper maintenance labels are attached to the boards with dates of 1969 and 1970 indicating the machine was still in operation at that time.
