Description

Object is a cylinder 36 inches long and 9 inches in diameter coated with magnetic material and mounted horizontally in a very heavy tub of three-quarter inch thick aluminum pieces. A one-third horsepower motor rotates the drum at 1725 rpm. Mounted above the drum is a frame that appears to contain many read/write heads. Along the top of the frame are four solenoids, probably to raise and lower the head assembly.
