Shoemaker, John oral history

In this oral history, John Shoemaker describes his stellar 20-year career at Xerox, followed by 13 years at Sun Microsystems, where he served in a variety of senior corporate management positions. He was the youngest Corporate VP in Xerox history and used his significant management experience to help lead Sun through many important business transitions, growing Sun from a relatively small workstation focused company to a major supplier of servers to the Internet and corporate world. He made significant contributions to internal organization development, business strategy, and product quality. Since leaving Sun in 2002, he has taken a variety of Board positions, including SonicWall, Altera, and Extreme Networks, in addition to non-profit Boards such as the El Camino Hospital Foundation, the Philanthropy Council, Indiana University, and others.
