Description

Mark Leslie has had a spectacular career moving from systems engineering at IBM in the 1960’s, through sales management and eventually becoming a highly successful CEO of a near startup which grew to be a billion dollar, Fortune 1000 company. He now teaches courses on entrepreneurship, ethics, and sales organizations at the Stanford Graduate School of Business and works in venture capital.
In this oral history, Mark maps out the steps in his career from IBM to Scientific Data Systems, and Data General and how he decided to make each of those transitions. After leaving Data General, he moved to corporate management, leading Synapse, Rugged Digital Systems and eventually Veritas. The oral history is also a great tutorial on lessons learned during his career. The insights offered in sales and corporate management, the dynamics of the high technology market and the mindset necessary to be successful make this a “must-read” for new and experienced entrepreneurs and corporate executives.
