Description

Dave Resnick has a long history of working on high-end computer systems. Before graduating as an electrical engineer, worked on electrical maintenance in the Army. This included maintaining a system that included point-contact transistors. Dave worked for Control Data on 6600s and 7600s systems and on the Star-100 as a logic designer and system engineer. Worked for ETA
Systems in multiple areas including leading the small engineering group that did the revisions to the ETA-10 design to make the Piper version. (The Piper was air-cooled, rather than using the liquid nitrogen cooling system of the standard ETA supercomputer.)

There is also a 'war story' about how Seymour Cray helped fix a problem in an early 6600 that resulted in the scope probe that he was using being ‘installed' into the machine, and was delivered and used by the customer.
