Description

Robert "Bob" Miller grew up in the Chicago area. He studied electrical Engineering at CalTech where Carver Mead got him interested in integrated circuit design. After working at Megatest for 15 years he joined Synaptics, Inc. in 1991. At Synaptics he designed the first prototype Touchpad controller chip in 1991/1992, then figured out many of the refinements needed to make it a practical computer input device.

He went on to set up Touchpad module manufacturing, first for low volumes in Silicon Valley, then high volume production in Taiwan.
