DocumentDescription
Details of the various VAX programs are further described before moving on to Bob’s post-DEC career. He also covers in detail the period in which he was running DEC’s various advanced research groups which were collectively responsible for a stunning number of developments which DEC was not able to capitalize on.Upon leaving DEC in 1999, he joined an Internet startup called FairMarket. Unfortunately, that company got caught in the dot com bubble, so Bob moved onto a networking startup called Nauticus Networks which was sold to Sun in 2003. He did not find a compelling reason to stick with Sun, so he moved onto SiCortex, a multi-processor systems company in 2004.
When SiCortex didn’t take off, he left in 2008 and agreed to join Burroughs where there was a turnaround in process. After a significant success in regaining the enthusiasm of the engineers and developing a series of important products for Burroughts, Bob finally retired in 2015.
He has since kept his mind challenged and his network energized by working with a team of former colleagues around the world developing simulators for long-dead computers and bring old software to life.
