Description
In this May 2018 interview with David Grier, Alain Rappaport discusses his early education and exposure to computing in France in the mid twentieth century. While studying for a medical degree, Rappaport spent his free time exploring theories of learning and reality. After obtaining both an MD and Ph.D., he founded the company Neuron Data with two friends. During his tenure at Neuron Data, Rappaport focused on artificial intelligence research and expert systems technology and tools. Later, Rappaport founded the companies Medstory and Nudgit, which developed domain-specific search technology and a recommender search ecommerce tool, respectively. Throughout this career, Rappaport also held various adjunct and advisory roles with Carnegie Mellon University and NASA.
