McCune, Brian oral history - Transcript

<p>In this May 2018 interview with Hansen Hsu, Brian McCune discusses his early education and exposure to computers in the 1960s in Portland, Oregon. After earning a bachelor&rsquo;s degree from Oregon State University, McCune went on to earn a PhD from Stanford University and work in Stanford&rsquo;s AI Lab with Ed Feigenbaum, John McCarthy, and other pioneers in AI and expert systems. McCune describes his interest and work in applied AI and expert system research, particularly signal processing and data analysis defense applications. In the early 1980s, he was one of the cofounders of Advanced Decision Systems (ADS), which later spun off Verity, a knowledge engineering company eventually acquired by Hewlett-Packard. The remainder of his career includes cofounding the company Cyladian, where he continued consulting work and applied research projects with DARPA.</p>
