A small label on the back says, "design: rob maas."

From VIE (written by Alex Lux) - VAX-11/780 salesman’s model (1977)- The VAX-11/780 was Digital Equipment Corporation’s (DEC) first 32-bit computer and provided the market with a system that had a competitive price/performance ratio. It was the first DEC computer to implement the VAX architecture and this family of minicomputers utilized the Virtual Address eXtension (VAX) which increased the address space in the 11/780 from 16 to 32 bits, an improvement over the earlier PDP-11. This increase allowed for a significantly larger number of applications to be run on the system, which previously was not possible with the PDP-11.
DEC salesman would bring these models to introduce the new VAX hardware to potential customers.
