Description

Kumar Malavalli was a co-founder of Brocade Communications, the switch manufacturer which led industry into the realm of SANs (Storage Area Networks).

Kumar was an original participant and active developer of the Fibre Channel standards in the T11 Accredited Standards Committee. His mixed background in telephony and process control systems, brought insights on how to structure networks that were foreign to LAN (Local Area Network) environments.

Until Fibre Channel and the supporting infrastructure of Name Servers, Zones et al became available; there was no way to manage storage as a site entity.
