Jerry Hutcheson joined the electronics industry in 1959 as a research physicist engaged in integrated circuit research, and advanced through a succession of research and manufacturing posts in several companies that involved him with the design and manufacture of most types of semiconductor devices. In 1976, he founded VLSI Research (then called Technical Ventures). In 2002, Hutcheson received the SEMI Bob Graham Award for outstanding contributions in the field of semiconductor equipment and materials marketing.
