Description
Kenneth Levy serves as chairman of the board at KLA-Tencor Corporation and has been associated with the semiconductor capital equipment industry for more than 30 years. After receiving his Bachelor and Masters degrees in Electrical Engineering and spending six years in the aerospace simulation field, Levy joined the startup team at Computervision, where he was responsible for Computervision's entry into the semiconductor capital equipment industry through its Cobilt Division. Levy co-founded KLA Instruments in 1976, and in 1997 the company merged with Tencor Instruments to form KLA-Tencor. In addition to his duties at KLA-Tencor, Levy serves as a director emeritus on the board of SEMI, and as a board member of Juniper Networks, Extreme Networks and Ultratech Stepper. He also serves on the boards of several privately-held companies and acts as advisor to two venture capital partnerships. Levy has received numerous awards, including the SEMI “Semmy” award in 1983, the SEMI Lifetime Achievement award in 1996, and the Harvard Business School Association Entrepreneur of the Year award. He was elected membership in the National Academy of Engineering “for the development and commercialization of automated inspection systems for the semiconductor industry.”
