The material in this folder is related to the early development of VAX, created as a 32-bit system to extend or replace the PDP-11. Material includes a steering committee meeting about the 36-bit Unicorn project, and memos, diagrams, reports,and other material related to the proposal and research into the development of a 32-bit machine. Many of the memos are written by Bill Demmer, who was vice president of the Mid-Range Systems Business Group and VAX/VMS Systems and Servers Group.
