This object is a Quiet DeLuxe typewriter with a Dvorak keyboard, owned and used by Dr. August Dvorak himself. It was donated to the Museum by his grandson, Robert Rice, and is the only one of its kind. The inside of the strike-key cover has a list of eight patent numbers, under which reads "MADE IN UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. PROTECTED BY AMERICAN AND FOREIGN PATENTS." Also under the cover is a "TOUCH CONTROL" with a lever that ranges from "0-9". The back panel of the typewriter reads "ROYAL TYPEWRITER CO., INC." The typewriter ribbon and spools are extant.
