From the original program:The XI project is Digital's version fo the proposed ANSI standard token ring LAN called FDDI. The physical connection uses multi-mode optical fiber and has a raw signaling rate of 125 Mbit/sec. The FDDI permits up to 500 stations per ring and has a station-to-station maximum extent of 2 km.
This talk will describe the FDDI standard and the optical and VLSI components under development at Digital for XI.
