These folders contain materials related to a 1969 study for the National Agricultural Library (NAL) in which Bourne interviewed users or potential users of NAL products, a 1971 study for the NAL with University of Georgia staff members regarding their computers searching of various bibliographic databases, a project with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to establish a computerized database containing information from consumer drug labelling documents called Production of the National Drug Code Directory, a presentation given at the Special Libraries Association Pacific-Northwest chapter in February, 1970 titled, "Systems Analysis and Library Service Evaluation," a study sponsored by the U.S. Office of Education through the Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC) titled, "Abstracting and Indexing Rates and Costs: A Literature Review, a conference in interlibrary communications and information networks, a Charles Bourne and Associates (CBA) study titled, "Data Collection and Cost Modelling for Library Circulation Systems," issues with time lags in publications that were part of the curriculum for Bourne's Introduction to Documentation course, an usuccessful research proposal submitted to the U.S. Office of Education titled, "Preliminary Study of the Costs of Library Acquisition and Cataloging Functions," a presentation given at the Honnold Library Society on the history of technological advances in libraries and the future of libraries, un unpublihsed draft titled, "Library Costs: A Bibliography," an unsuccessful grant proposal titled, "A Proposal for a Coordinated Major Library Cost Analsysis and Reporting Experiment," and a cost study analysis of University of California libraries.
