We are in the midst of a startup revolution. The growth and proliferation of innovation-driven startup activity is profound, unprecedented, and global in scope.And yet, much more work is needed. Startup activity is highly concentrated in large cities, and governments and other actors such as large corporations and universities are not collaborating with each other nor with entrepreneurs as well as they could. Too often, these actors try to control activity or impose their view from the top-down, rather than supporting an environment led from the bottom-up.
Lucy Sanders, CEO of the National Center for Women & Information Technology, leads a discussion with early-stage investor and entrepreneur Brad Feld about his latest book, "The Startup Community Way: Evolving an Entrepreneurial Ecosystem". They consider: What are the structural problems that hold entrepreneurs back? What makes startup communities thrive? How can we improve collaboration in those rapidly evolving, complex environments? Together, we'll come to a better understanding of how to build communities of support and knowledge-sharing that can lead to a better future for us all.
