Title

Deuce Delay Line Memory

Catalog Number

X160.82

Type

Physical object

Description

Although this item is recorded as being from the Pilot Ace, it more likely comes from the commercial version of that machine, the Deuce, produced by English Electric. Note the photos of the Deuce delay line in the book "Early British Computers" by Simon Lavington, p 17. The delay lines on the two machines were very similar but the "head" ends of the tube in the Deuce was slightly different and this appears to be a Deuce delay line. (Michael R. Williams, April 2, 2002) Item is an extremely rare example of a "folded" delay line.
