The clear plastic cover has become detached from the object. Attached to the object is an almost illegible paper label with writing in German. The case is cracked and dirty.
The object looks similar to a cash register with no drawer. The central unit has a keyboard consisting of an array of keys including 10 columns of numeric (0-9) keys and 3 addition partial columns of keys with various labels. At the top there are 2 large displays including 9 numeric digits. One display faces forward and the other faces backward. At the bottom there are 6 small counters, each with 4 digits. On the left side there is a mechanism with 4 print heads. Two print on rolls of 3.375 paper tape. One roll has an internal take up spool. The other roll exits from the front of the machine. The two remaining heads print on documents which are inserted into the top or side of the machine. There is a threading diagram located under the protective cover. There is also a table which labels the six counters on the front of the unit. On the right side there is a paper tape punch. It has concentric feed and tape reels located next to each other. There is a removable chad drawer on the side. There is a threading diagram located under the protective cover. There are 6 keyed locks. One lock is on the lower left side and has no matching key. One locks the paper tape punch cover. It has 2 matching keys. The remaining 4 locks are located at the right of the keyboard. One has 2 matching keys. Another has 1 matching key. On the back of this unit there are a signal in/out connector, a mains plug, a fuse, and two switches (500ch/s and 1000 ch/s).
This LSL 040 paper tape reader has one spool, which moves the paper tape through a pressure plate to keep it flat. On the back there is a vent. A switch on the back indicates that the machine reads 500-1000 characters per second (ch/s). The interface on the back has several flat pins.

Object consists of display unit, model 834 disk drive and cable assembly that fits socket marked "tape" on display unit. The cable assembly has two 5-pin DIN connector and 2 conductor minature phone plug. Display and dual 5 inch floppy disk drive can be separated, but were wighed together. Dimensions are for display unit only. Attached IO cable which ends in 37 pin DB-37 connector that is compatible with the floppy disk unit. Unit is apparently a display and a computer. Has connectors on back for keyboard, video, tape, channel A, channel B.and ABC bus.
