Museum Campaign

Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, the Computer History Museum is home to the world’s largest collection of computer-related historical artifacts. In 2009, the Museum plans to unveil its signature “Timeline of Computing History” exhibit made possible through the generosity of William H. Gates, III. The “Timeline” will be a 14,000 square-foot interactive exhibit that will trace the computing revolution from the abacus to the internet. Future phases of the Museum will include theme galleries, additional dynamic programming, and much, much more.

In order to achieve its future vision, the Computer History Museum has embarked upon a $125 million comprehensive campaign to generate support in its efforts to become a fully-operational facility. The Campaign will provide critical funding for three key areas:
  1. Annual Fund ($25M) – to provide support for current operating needs and to build an expanding base of contributors to help meet future operational and programmatic needs
  2. Endowment Fund ($50M) – to generate ongoing support for the Museum’s key programs
  3. Building/Exhibits Fund ($50M) – to retire the building debt, pay for building and property modifications, and finance the construction of the physical and cyber exhibits
As of December 2006, the Museum has raised approximately $77 million in gifts and pledges toward its $125 million goal. For additional information about the Campaign, please contact Gary Malone.
