International Master Michael Valvo was the arbiter at the first Kasparov vs. Deep Blue match in Philadelphia. In 1996, Deep Blue was the first computer system to win a chess game against a reigning World Chess Champion, defeating Garry Kasparov in the first game of a six game match. Kasparov bounced back, however, defeating Deep Blue by a score of 4-2.
