Curator Notes

At a cost of $503, this digital computer from 1971 was designed for training in conjunction with a McGraw Hill home study course on computer logic and programming. As a tool for reinforcing and teaching computer fundamentals, the 832 introduced these concepts to a number of budding computer scientists at universities and at home. Although it was a simplified digital computer, its designers aimed for it to bridge a gap between digital logic training devices and the more complex programming of minicomputers. The input for the 832 consisted of a series of switches while the output was 8-bit binary light displays.
