The object is a cylindrical enclosure canister, presumably containing the magnetic drum and its drive motor. On top of this canister is a thin printed circuit board, curved into a smaller cylinder and mounted on its edge. The board has the label "HEAD MATRIX L335003562" printed on it. There are 128 individual paper labels stuck around the board, numbered from 0 to 127. There are wires extending from the board into the top of the drum canister, and also wires leading to four cable connectors of assorted types. There is a four-prong power connector as well, but only three of the prongs have connecting wires. At the bottom, the main canister is mounted on a heavy gauge metal base plate with shock-mount feet.
