Description
Don Listwin, born and raised in Canada, came to Silicon Valley with his first job at Develcon, becoming VP Marketing. Through co-worker Andy Lockhart, he soon made his way to Cisco, taking a risky 50% pay cut and job title of product management, as employee 410 in the East Palo Alto headquarters. He stayed ten years and a week, becoming EVP along the way. His description of the early days at Cisco is insightful, along with the evolution of Cisco products, marketing and sales approaches. Humorous stories re Morgridge’s approach to business, and Chambers with Listwin re acquisitions.
Listwin left Cisco to become CEO of OpenWave, for which the timing was in the midst of the dot.com meltdown. Resuscitating that company was a chore; afterwards, motivated by family cancer histories, Listwin founded the Canary Foundation. Listwin proudly describes how Canary has pioneered key diagnostic approaches in eighteen years. Most recently, he has taken a new CEO role at iSchemicView, a medical company focused on stroke identification and treatment.
