Tandy Radio Shack Corporation (TRS)

TRS was formed by the 1963 merger of Tandy Leather Company and Radio Shack (which was almost bankrupt at the time). They dealt in many different electronic products, but introduced two computers that were important in fostering the personal computer revolution.

The TRS-80 (Model I), introduced in 1977, was one of the major products introducing home computers to the public. Like the Commodore PET and the Apple II, which were introduced within months of the TRS-80, the TRS-80 was completely assembled and ready to run.

The other major offering was the TRS-80 (Model 100) a very small portable machine with simple word processing and a built in modem, very popular with early telecommuters.
