Texas Instruments, Inc. (TI)

TI was founded in the 1930s, specializing in the creation of seismic sensing devices. TI is a leader in the research and development of transistors, integrated circuits, hand-held calculators, and computer equipment.

While best known for various consumer products such as their silent thermal printers, they held their interest in seismic exploration and produced an early supercomputer to help with the calculations. The ASC or Advanced Scientific Computer, designed and built in the late 1960s and early 1970s, set standards for subsequent vector processing machines.
